This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We have some amazing students that no matter the situations or challenges life has put in front of them, they never give up. We are a Kindergarten through 2nd grade self contained special needs class. Each one of our students has their own unique and wonderful personality, as well as an opinion about everything!
While our students are different from what society calls "normal", our students are just like any other 6, 7, and 8 year old child that loves to play, wiggle, stretch, and move.
We, as teachers, do our best to help our students reach their full potentials no mater what they are attempting to do in life or at school. Failure is not an option, as a matter of fact FAIL just means First Attempt In Learning!
My Project
We are trying to make our room a more enjoyable and relaxing place for our students to learn. While adding a carpet does not seem to be that big a deal to most....adding a little bit of personality to a room goes a long way to making students feel comfortable and want to learn.
Having a carpet in our room allows us the flexibility in how we position our students so that they are in better positions, which will help them to focus on learning.
These students work hard from the time they get out of bed each morning until the time their little bodies shut down, so having this carpet will also help make "down time" a little more comfortable.
