This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The fourth grade students at my school are starting a unit about the California Gold Rush. The central idea is "How is the past connected to the present." They will be specifically looking at immigration and the impact it had in California, as well as the stories from those that traveled from a far in hopes of a better life.

My students will start their inquiry by learning how to research topics through trade books at their own level.

They will then synthesize their learning and create a presentation to show what they know. These books will be invaluable to our investigation!
