I am a band director on the Mississippi Gulf Coast in an area that was devastated by Hurricane Katrina. We have a small 6-12 grade band program currently struggling with the economy and budget restraints.
Most of our students' families are struggling to make ends meet. Our district is still trying to rebuild schools. We face extreme budget cuts from the state level and are looking at little to no budget money to maintain the band program. On the positive, however, we are having students move into the area once again. We have students that will not have decent horns to play as a result of more families moving into the area.
You can help! These two euphoniums will ensure that 2 of our students will immediately get the benefits of having a decent horn to play. There will be dozens in the future that will benefit by playing on these two instruments. I am confident that by having these instruments, some students who play on them will go on to getting music scholarships and attending college.
With your support and generosity, many students will have an opportunity to excel in music, get scholarships, attend college, and becoming an overall respectful member of society all because you took the time to care about someone you don't even know and you helped them tremendously in ways one can hardly imagine.
