This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a teacher at a low income, predominatly minority school with 95% free and reduced lunches. I teach Ethinic Literature and this is the second year this class has been taught. The goal is to make sure that our students can see themselves and relate to the literature they read. In order to do that efficiently I need to also teach some oranizational skills along with creativity to make the material engaging to my students.

I requested the items in my cart to help the kids keep track of their materials, and provide some supplies that my students can not afford on their own.

I choose the behind the chair seat organizers in order to help keep the books in good shape as my district can not afford to replace them. The towers I will be using to charge their Chromebooks so that they are able to keep up in class. The caddies will be used to organize materials and supplies for hands on learning. It is important to me to provide as much diferentiation in my teaching to reach every student.

Organization of their materials is another skill my students lack and often leads to failing grades. I like to use my classroom as a guide and example for them, the bins are one of the things that will help them. As a teacher of underserved populations, I use the money I can to make sure my students have what they need, but I can only afford to spend so much of my own money. Any help would be much appreciated and would go a long way to bridging the gap, and creating inclusivity and equality to all my students.
