My Project
Our school's vision is grounded in learning that uplifts and celebrates BIPOC communities.
Our developmental Ethnic Studies program in kindergarten engages students in studies of themselves, their culture, and their community members.
The Little People, Big Dreams series of books introduces young children to biography, teaching about key moments in the lives of extraordinay people who exemplify our school values of Community, Culture, Compassion, Courage, and Curiosity.
I have long used puppets in my kindergarten classroom. Puppets allow adults and children to role-play different characters while asking and answering questions about character possibilities. Our class puppets lend themselves to unencumbered discourse, conversational turn-taking, and vocabulary development. The requested puppets will expand our basic collection to include community members and cultural celebrants.
These books, puppets, and activities I have selected will be an engaging and treasured addition to our classroom’s Ethnic Studies Program. Thank you so much for supporting us.
