Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

As a third year teacher in a Title I school, I am so thankful for the DonorsChoose community. When funding is tight for basic supplies, the DonorsChoose community has given my students the resources they need to be successful. The items we are requesting may seem basic, but having a well stocked classroom means students are teachers do not have to scramble to find pencils or crayons. This leaves more time for teaching and learning!

It's hard to put into words just how special this group of first grade students is.

They are kind, caring, thoughtful, smart, and are truly capable of anything. That's why I'd like to end our year being able to continue to provide the materials they need to launch into second grade successfully.

Instead of scrambling for materials at the end of the year, my hope with this project is to take the worry out of sourcing materials and put that energy into teaching and learning. This includes art and creative projects from Teacher Pay Teachers, as well as end of the year wrap up activities. For example, summer review guides, end of the year awards, and end of the year crafts!

The end of the year is such a special time! My first graders have grown up. They have blossomed in front of our eyes and they are ready for their next adventure. Help me send them on their way to success!
