Essentials: Middle School Edition

My Project

Our charter school is a Title I school serving students from Hamilton and Trenton, New Jersey. Seventy-nine percent of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch, as well as food for them to bring home to their families over the weekend.

Our school is made up of students who want to succeed academically.

Parents choose to send their children to our school because we provide our students with a rigorous curriculum that challenges them while instilling a lifelong love of learning.

Many of my students come from backgrounds that don't allow them to make care and comfort a priority due to their financial status. Being middle schoolers, caring for their bodies is important to them and their peers.

I want to be able to provide my students with resources such as lip balm, tissues, hair ties, lotion and snacks that will cover their basic care, comfort, and hunger needs.

With these basic items, I will have them on hand whenever a student might need them. Students need basic items to promote self-confidence! I want to help bridge the gap so there are fewer embarrassing moments and more reasons to smile, feel good, smell good, and look good!
