My Project

Hello! I am an 8th grade ELA teacher. I work in a title 1 school where I support over 130 students daily. This means I go through supplies really quickly! I provide them with all kinds of things they need like personal hygiene products, band-aids, snacks, prizes for incentives, etc.

Offering incentives to students helps them become more engaged and willing to work if they know there is a chance they could win a prize.

I have found that it is really difficult to motivate middle school students, but offering prizes and incentives really works! Anything to help them grow in their reading scores as so many students across the country are behind where they need to be.

Aside from making sure they are thriving academically, I also need to make sure they feel comfortable coming to school by having the hygiene products they need. I once had a girl not come to school for a week once a month and realized she was not coming because she did not have access to any period products. No student should have to miss school because of something like this.
