Essentials for Learning to Write and Recognize Letters

Help me give my students essential classroom supplies to help them organize and support their writing along with letter recognition.

My Project

For most of our 3-year-olds, when they step foot into our classroom, it is their first time stepping into a classroom. Two of the fundamental skills students learn during the year are how to write their names and learning the names of the letters in their names. These are two foundational skills that will set them up for success not just in preschool, but throughout their educational journey. Each morning, students sign in when they get to class to support their growth and development toward writing an accurate name.

These supplies are essential for organizing their writing and supporting their letter recognition.

The short pencils will be used to support proper hand placement while writing. The Velcro and magnets will be used on our interactive boards for letter matching and recognition. The glue will be used for students' letter-cutting and pasting activities. The binder clips will be used to hold name-writing books on the correct pages as well as to organize and store learning letter materials. The rubber bands will also be used to organize and store learning materials for the next school year.
