My Students

My students are very unique and interesting young adults that are eager to see what the world has to offer. There are many instances where they are ready to tackle an endeavor and are held back because of the lack of resources available to them. We are located in the great city of Chicago, where depending on where you are at in the city, you can have access to so much but on the other side of the city you're stuck in a small perimeter and are limited by the few blocks you walk daily.

My students are often stuck in their neighborhoods and have no idea what the city, let alone the world, has to offer.

Being a Spanish teacher, I try to show them what is out there to give them motivation to keep pushing and stay focused.

Many students fall victim to the streets and are no longer with us or have given themselves to the streets. It's disappointing when you see one of your students pushing to have a better life but struggle or can't reach their goal.

My Project

These materials will help many students worry less about things that they cannot control and focus more on things that they can, like their education. It breaks my heart when students come to me for these must have essentials and they are often sad and embarrassed. It is a heavy burden for young people to carry.

Since, unfortunately, I am not able to bring them all home with me, I can take some essential home items to them.

This is why it is important to me that I am able to have these items when i'm asked for them.
