My Project
In my classroom, the use of technology is a huge focus daily. I feel my students are at a disadvantage when using their Chromebooks (for testing, intervention, and more) as they can not hear and concentrate on just their own devices. I either have to have the students mute the computers or they will hear 24 different computers at once. To help overcome this challenge, I am asking for headphones for each of my students.
Headphones are not a luxury for my students; they are a critical tool to support various aspects of their learning journey.
Headphones can be a valuable tool in a second-grade classroom for several reasons. Many learning platforms are online. Headphones help students concentrate on individual tasks without distractions from their peers. This can be particularly useful during independent reading, listening to audiobooks, or working on language skills. At this time, we were only given earbuds for the students and they do not fit their little ears(they fall out or hurt the children). This is why I want to get soft, foldable, ear-covering headphones for my class.
My students are deserving of everything and unfortunately, they are in a financially challenged area and do not always get the most updated supplemental materials. I never want my students to feel they do not have something because of lack of funding. They are all on free breakfast, lunch, and supper and the majority of their school supplies are provided by their teacher. My students have faced so many challenges from fires to pandemics and more. It is time to bring joy and show them how much they are supported and cared about through the kindness of strangers.
