it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As an elementary teacher starting midyear in a low-income Title I school, I am committed to creating a welcoming and efficient bilingual classroom for my 5th-grade students. However, beginning in January means our classroom is missing many essential supplies and tools necessary to keep our learning environment organized, clean, and productive. My students are resilient, creative, and curious learners who are navigating the challenge of becoming bilingual. Many of them face economic hardships, yet, they show up eager to learn and grow.
The specific items I am requesting will directly impact my students’ learning and our classroom environment.
Storage bins will keep books, materials, and supplies organized, making it easier for students to access the resources they need to stay focused on learning. Reusable write-and-wipe pockets will provide my students with tools for hands-on practice during math, reading, and writing lessons, allowing them to make mistakes and try again without wasting paper. Pencils, glue sticks, and paper will ensure that students have the basic supplies necessary to complete assignments confidently and without disruption. Cleaning supplies like Lysol wipes will help us maintain a clean and healthy space, reducing distractions caused by illness and keeping students safe. Finally, items like tissues are basic necessities that help our classroom run smoothly.
My goal is to give my students a classroom environment where they feel prepared and empowered to learn. With these supplies, I want to foster independence and responsibility by keeping materials easily accessible and organized, reduce barriers to learning by ensuring every student has the tools they need to succeed, and create a healthy, clean space. Your support will provide the resources to create a classroom where my students can focus on learning.
