My Students
My students are English Language Learners. They work hard to acquire the language skills necessary to master mainstream classroom content. They are eager and energetic Learners who go out of their way to be apart of the school community. They participate in extra curricular activities and and display their talents in many ways which benefit our school and the surrounding community. I want them to have a great educational foundation to build on and I understand that access plays a big part in that becoming a reality. I hope that you all would be willing to help lay that foundation by providing us with some of the basics necessary for success in and out of the classroom.
My Project
My ELLs need practice with listening to and speaking English. Headsets with mics will give the tools necessary to practice both listening and speaking skills without the threat of feeling judged or "tested," before they are at a point where they feel comfortable speaking in front of a whole group or responding to conversations. The individual practice will build stamina.
The projector I am requesting will allow my students to interact, using technology.
I currently am working with a dry erase board. While effective, it doesn't give me an opportunity to interact the groups as whole while using technology.
ESOL classrooms are supposed to be visual and filled with literature and technology that gives students access to videos, images, and resources that will help them learn the English Language in a more comprehensive and cognitive way. It will allow me to be their guide on the tech journey. I can facilitate research and resources so that their input is meaningful and advancing.
