Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This project is focused on providing the non-musical supplies that are often overlooked, yet essential for a successful learning environment. We are requesting basic materials such as:

Pencils and erasers

Dry-erase markers and whiteboards

Folders and notebooks for music journaling and organizing sheet music

Tissues and cleaning wipes to maintain a healthy classroom

Storage bins and labeling materials to keep our supplies in order

Supplies will be used both campuses where I teach: Mount Vernon Community School and John Adams Elementary School in the 2025-2026 school year.

My students come from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds, and many of them face daily challenges outside of school. Music class is a space where they can express themselves and grow, but they need support to thrive — not just musically, but with the everyday tools that keep our classroom running.

These items help us stay organized, clean, and ready to focus on learning. When students don’t have to worry about having a pencil or blowing their nose, they can fully engage in making music.

The Impact

These supplies may seem small, but they make a big difference. Many of my students don’t have the means to bring these items from home. Your support ensures every student feels prepared and valued. Together, we can build a supportive, joyful classroom where every child has what they need — not just to participate, but to thrive.
