Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a public, Title I, rural school composed of nearly 800 diverse students, grades kindergarten through eighth grade. More specifically, I teach 30 unique and fantastic 6th graders! In our classroom we S.O.A.R to greatness and always strive to reach our greatest potential.
However; given these challenging times with the outbreak of COVID-19, many of my students are in need of basic school supplies as they transition to Distance Learning.
For many of my students, they do not have access to essential items such as pencils and paper. Majority of my students come from migrant families and it is challenging to obtain essential school materials.
My Project
Everyone is in need during this time of COVID-19; however, our students are in need the most.
My students know that our classroom is a safe place where they can receive all the essential supplies to be successful in school, but with our classrooms being taken away due to the virus, and students now forced to learn from home they are in need of these essential supplies more than ever!
These basic supplies will continue to support my students while they embark on the adventure of Distance Learning, and with these essentials they will continue to strive in their academic success!
