This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach 18 Pre-Kindergarteners who enjoy exploring and are eager to enter the exciting world of numbers, letters, and words. They are curious about everything that they see and hear. They love to listen to stories and they enjoy retelling them. Furthermore, my students love to play because it is how they learn to explore their senses. They learn best through play.
Pre-K students strive to make sense of the bigger world and to make their personal worlds as orderly and safe as possible.
They love to try new things, and enjoy inquiry and hands-on tasks. Moreover, they like to organize and sort things. I want to be able to provide for my students the supplies and materials that they need for early development skills taught in Pre-K. School supplies are essential tools because they will help them to keep track of their things. The storage boxes are for them to be able to place all their school supplies such as their pencils, glue sticks, crayons, scissors, and markers together in one place. I feel that it will keep my students organized and safe from sharing of materials.
The Jumbo Ziploc Bags will be used for protecting my students belongings from touching each other. They will store their coats and bookbags inside the bags. It has a double-zipper closure for secure seal.
The small pencils and thick pencils will help strengthen my Pre-K students' fine motor skills by allowing an increased endurance in writing. The triangular crayons and rock crayons promote a tripod grasp and it encourages the motor planning needed for any coloring tasks.
