This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are a diverse group that are all interested in our school's environmental science focus. Nearly 70% of them receive free or reduced-price lunch and many struggle academically. That said, they are exceptionally hard workers and dedicated to improving their academic outcomes.
In recent years, our school has had some of the highest student achievement growth in the district.
We are extremely proud of them and excited for a new school year. We know that when they have everything they need to be successful at school, they are able to accomplish so much!
My Project
With a high-poverty school population, many of our students come to school each day without some of their basic needs being met. Hygiene is very important and there are times when we need to provide some of the most basic household items to help our students and their families maintain dignity and respect in their day to day lives.
This project requests a variety of essential hygiene items for our students and families in need.
It includes shampoo, body soap, hand soap, laundry detergent, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, baby wipes, snacks, and other items that our students often need at home...simply the basics.
Please help some of our neediest students by helping to supply them with these items. When students' basic needs are met, they tend to perform much better in the classroom!
