My students need push up mats, sit and reach tester, scooter accessories, sting-free volleyballs and pinnies for organization and implementation of new curriculum.
Have you ever wondered if your health is improving or getting worse? Push up mats and a sit and reach box allow students to accurately determine fitness levels throughout the year. Scooters are packed up in boxes, pinnies are tearing from over use, and we are without volleyballs for young students.
I teach over 600 kindergarten-8th graders at a public school in Illinois.
The low income status of many students has lead to a lack of exploration of new physical activities. The students are always looking for creative ways to move through the gym and activities that they have not played before.
My Project
The equipment I am requesting includes sting free volleyballs to expose the primary grades to the sport of volleyball without the possibility of aching arms from a regular volleyball. Colored pinnies will replace old torn up pinnies for us to continue to be able to play competitive sports and games. A scooter games book will help me plan new scooter activities that incorporate fitness into the curriculum. Scooter stackers will help get the scooters out of boxes and into the hands of the students more efficiently. A new Fox 40 whistle will help me get students attention without piercing their sensitive ears! Fitness testing will become more accurate and efficient with a new sit and reach flexibility box and 2 new push up mats.
Donor support will allow students to continually self assess their fitness levels to decrease the chance of childhood obesity.
Primary students will have maximum activity time with scooter organization, and colored pinnies will allow team sports to continue on in physical education.
