My students are in a Title I school. Many do not have the resources due to covid related issues to afford the supplies needed for class. It is a struggle for them to buy all of the “extras” that playing an instrument requires.
My Project
We were fortunate enough to receive funds to purchase instruments for all of our incoming 6th grade band students next year. However, these instruments will not arrive with the instructional materials that each child needs to be successful. The materials are used both in the classroom setting and at home. They may also be used with future beginning band students. Unfortunately, these materials are not considered as textbooks so they are not purchased by the school. The band program must fundraise in order to purchase them for children in need.
