My Students

My students reflect the cultural richness of New York City - and they speak 34 different languages among them!

Our school is an academically rigorous, tuition-free high school and college associate's degree program.

Many of my students are the first in their families to attend college. They are very eager for the opportunity to earn two years of free college tuition at the time of their high school graduation.

It is incredibly rewarding to work with such curious, eager, and motivated students.

My Project

During the first week of the school year, I get more book requests than almost any other time. Students want to get off to a great start to the year. If students have been meaning to read more for pleasure, September is often when they ask for advice finding a book. If they are planning to take the SAT, enter a math competition or work on their college essay, they usually start these ambitious projects in September as well. All of the book on this list were requests by teachers or students who are embarking on new academic adventures. Fall is almost unbelievably busy in the library!! Our typical book ordering process can take several months, and our budget is extremely limited. Thank you for helping students get off to a great start by funding their September books. It is amazing to be able to put books in their hands right when they need them--and when their energy and enthusiasm are at their highest. There's no time like the present.
