Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I have 24 students who walk to school or live very close. This year with another school having closed, our school combined and became a feeder school for these students. I am so proud of our Markham students who accepted these new students into their classes, quickly offering friendship and working well together. These students are resentless despite being children of low socioeconomic backgrounds.
These basic classroom materials will make all the difference.
Every child should have access to pencils, errasers, papers, stapplers, backpacks, waterbottles etc. Unfortunetly my students come from homes where they cannot afford or replace these items when they need to. At the beginning of our school year, I purchased 7 backpacks for students as needed throughout the year. We are 12 weeks in, and I only have 4 left alone. Kids often have no pencils to do homework, so I often run through the supplies I buy and send materials home with kids. Your help will be so appreciated and impactful.
