My Students
No one could have predicted a few months ago that our lives would be so changed and that school as we knew it would be so disrupted. On March 13, 2020, my life as a teacher thoroughly changed. My students would not be returning for what I know now is the remainder of the school year. However, with the onset of the social distancing and the shutdown order, my students were home with a loss. None were more effected than my graduating seniors who had to miss their prom, all of their high school senior year activities and graduation. I was able to have a wonderful ongoing relationship with one of my graduating students by mentoring, supporting them financially when their single parent was unable to, and writing recommendations to help them get into a college of their choice. While planning to enter into a new journey it came to my attention that my student did not have the necessary essentials to be successful as a new college freshman. I am requesting funding for cleaning products and supplies for my graduating senior to have in order to maintain cleanliness while living on campus.
My Project
These materials requested for this project will allow my graduating senior to continue to maintain a healthy, clean and safe lifestyle as a new college freshman. They will be able to do their own laundry without having to purchase on campus products which can sometimes be too expensive and not enough to last for a period of time. With the increase and decrease in numbers during the COVID-19 pandemic, I want him to be able to clean and sanitize areas that will be shared with other incoming freshmen. These resources are necessary to keep my graduating senior clean, safe and healthy during this pandemic. You have to make sure that they have the necessary essential supplies to start off the school year with a clean slate.
