My students need graphing calculators to understand algebra concepts. The batteries are for student classroom graphing calculators.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Help! That's what some students say when they see an algebra equation written on the board. Wouldn't it be great to see a picture that visualizes the problem on your screen? That's a job for graphing calculators! This is a skill that will be used as students progress on to college and beyond.
My students come from a variety of backgrounds here in Arizona.
However most are in the category of free or reduced lunch since the district as a whole is under the "poverty line" The school is a high school with ninth, tenth, eleventh, and twelfth graders. In my classes I have students who are "on their own", and hold part time or full time jobs after school. Some of my students have families of their own to support. The students I am working with this year struggle with math and find it difficult to pass the state standardized test. Most students in my classes have a positive outlook and have plans to continue their education in college , vocational, or university settings. To do this most will have to rely on scholarships and Pell grants because of funding problems.
My Project
The graphing calculators I am requesting will help my students be better prepared for college as well as help them understand algebra concepts. Some students have trouble visualizing algebra and graphing calculators help them understand the various objectives. The great thing about graphing calculators is that most colleges and universities allow students to use them and even expect students to have this knowledge. The batteries will help fuel the student graphing calculators I already have so it will be possible to teach an entire class lesson with these calculators. Most of my students cannot afford to buy graphing calculators on their own so it would be great to make this resources available to them.
Make a difference!
Help students learn how to use graphing calculators! Make this resource available to all students not just a few who can afford it. Give this aid to help students be successful in math not only in high school but also in college.
