This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students have come from many different parts of the world including Ecuador, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and the United States. They come with tenacity, creativity, and a wide variety of experiences and gifts. We work hard every day as scholars, artists, critical thinkers, and friends.

At our school, 96% of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, and 92% of the students are students of color.

The majority of my students are learning English as a second or third language. These students have the capacity to achieve greatness.

My Project

My students are eager students. They want to grasp the concepts that we tackle in class. However, tackling concepts without sufficient supplies is a real challenge. We need a new pencil sharpener, wall pops for our math small-groups, large post-it paper to make interactive posters in language arts and markers to give our work some style. We would love to have some exciting positive reinforcements with the slap bracelets and smencils (they're really cool!). And a 4th grade classroom is always in need of pencils. Lots of pencils. I buy most of them with my own money, so I can't buy the best quality. Ticonderoga are the best pencils out there.

My 5th graders are the engineers, pilots, dentists and architects of the future.

They need to understand the concepts and facts that we cover in our classroom. These supplies are just the ticket. Thank you for considering this project.
