My Project
At Fenway High School, our video game club is filled with talented, passionate students eager to explore the world of gaming, but we lack the tools to fully engage them in the experiences they’re most excited about. Right now, we don’t have access to the latest gaming consoles, which limits the types of games students can play, analyze, and learn from—key aspects of exploring esports, game design, and programming. This gap prevents our club from reaching its potential as a space for both fun and hands-on learning. As the club advisor, I've been bringing in my personal Nintendo Switch each time we meet, but our kids want to branch out to new types of games.
A PlayStation 5 console and controllers will give our students the opportunity to access the games they love and enhance their learning in eSports and game development.
With a PlayStation 5, our club will transform into a dynamic environment where students can connect with popular games that are shaping the industry today. The console will allow them to study competitive games used in professional eSports leagues, giving them the tools to strategize, collaborate, and think critically. Beyond game play, the PlayStation 5 will also serve as a gateway for students to understand how modern games are designed and programmed, sparking their curiosity about game mechanics and development.
This project is one step in building a program that combines the fun of gaming with meaningful learning opportunities in eSports and technology. We also run a video game project week in the spring, where our students get to explore the video game scene in and around Boston. With your help, we can inspire the next generation of game designers, programmers, and eSports athletes. Thank you for supporting our students and helping us level up their educational experience!
