Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

VSMSC has one of the most diverse student populations in the city of Chicago. We have a growing interest and demand in Esports at our school, but many students don't have the hardware or equipment to participate.

Research has shown that playing video games support students in building relationships, becoming more employable, and boost their strategic thinking, teamwork, communication, leadership, performance skills and confidence building.

According to the National Association of Collegiate Esports there are over 170 member schools offering over $16 million in esports scholarships.

We are hoping to build up our own Esports lab with competitive gaming laptops that are available for any student to use. We want any student regardless of their background or socioeconomic status to be able to participate and compete in our Esports program.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
