My Project

Dear donors,

My classroom is filled with 9th newcomer students who have just arrived in the United States, many of them leaving behind everything familiar to start over.

They’re learning English, navigating a new culture, and trying to find their place in a world that often moves too fast for them. I want to give them the gift of literature that reflects their strength and stories.

"Esperanza Rising" is the story of a young girl who faces enormous change, loss, and hope. Through this story, my students will see that they’re not alone, that their voices matter, and that their journeys deserve to be told and celebrated.

With a class set of this novel, we will read together, discuss together, and grow our classroom community.
