Esperanza Rising All 5th Grade Book Club!

My Students

Our school is filled with incredible students who love to come to school every day! They are such happy individuals with so much empathy and curiosity! The staff at our school learns as much from the students as the students do from us about life and the world.

My students bring many different cultures from around the world into our classroom every day, creating a rich and deep learning environment.

It is an amazing environment to teach about diversity because it is so evident. I am truly indebted to my students for all they teach me about life and their culture.

My Project

Our 5th grade students are so resilient! They have pivoted and persevered through such extreme changes.

They are finishing this week, an all grade level reading unit and book club using the book Amulet.

Next month, we want to move from a graphic novel to a novel and use Esperanza Rising. Through this book students will learn about Mexican history, a strong women protagonist and learn all about narrative text structure.

We are 14 book short of making this happen! We would love to get these books into our students hand by the 24th of February to start reading the book the first week of March.
