My Project

Last week I participated in my 3rd OWL training, and left feeling excited, empowered, and inspired to bring this language-learning approach to my students. OWL stands for Organic World Language, and focuses on language proficiency, as opposed to the traditional World Language classroom of worksheets, vocabulary lists, and memorizing. And the best part is: it's without desks! Students participate in a variety of activities moving about the space!

To properly execute OWL, I am requesting white board clip boards, markers, and additional resources so my students can have the best possible experience.

Though it is new for myself and the kids, I know we will have a blast! I want to be sure the students and I have the tools we need to hit the ground running!

Likewise, this is my second year teaching Spanish for Native and Heritage Speakers, which is a class I have wanted to teach since I started my career. This is a rewarding and challenging class to teach, as I must cater to a diverse set of needs and learning targets. Students come from many language backgrounds and there is no one-size-fits-all curriculum. Having access to resources on TPT specifically designed for heritage speakers will provide the students an even richer experience, and will allow me to tap into my colleagues' creativity and expertise. Students will benefit from the differing perspectives on texts, poems, and current events that we study in class. I look forward to making my content better for the kids!
