This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Learn by playing!" The best way children learn is when they play.

Most of my students have recently come to the USA, their mother tongue being Spanish.

They are smart children and, given the chance, they will become successful American citizens. Their ages are between 5 and 8 so they are still willing to play more than to learn.

My Project

If, instead of giving them long lists of words to memorize, we play Bingo with those words, they will learn without even thinking about learning. On the other hand, when it comes to Reading and Writing, using magnetic letters or words can be so much funnier than using a paper and a pen.

Think about children between 5 and 8 years old who come to school from a family in which the members speak a little or no English at all.

Think about all the vocabulary they need to learn so that they can respond to everyday school requests and you will see why we need to help them. They do want to learn but they also do want to play. Thank you!
