I teach third grade at a Title I elementary school in Brooklyn, New York. My students are ESL children and are learning, not only English, but how to be American, too. Our classroom family consists of diverse backgrounds and learning styles. My challenge is to provide each student with differentiated instruction that can help them adjust, learn, and achieve.
My classroom is lacking many basic supplies and materials.
I'm relying on generous donors to help me and my children be the best we can be!
My ESL students are excited to learn about everything - they amaze me with their thirst for knowledge. The problem is I don't have any technology to help give them 21st-Century technology skills. Technology is not just playing games, it's using online resources to learn reading, language, and other content areas.
With these two HP Chromebook laptop computers, I can create differentiated language activities and instruction.
The laptops will be placed in learning centers for individual and small group work. I can use them to access our Wonder and GoMath online resources so students can also self-assess and do accelerated activities. The Chromebooks are a powerful tool for me to also reach those students who are in language acquisition mode. They can learn vocabulary and grammar with the fun children apps that are out there.
Your support of my ESL family is so greatly appreciated. I can't wait to see their faces when I tell them computers are on the way!
