My Students

Our school is located in a very low-income geographic area located near a major military base. Despite economic shortfalls and cutbacks, our students want to excel and have a great work ethic. They pull together to get through hard times, and are very good in supporting each other when the going gets tough. Being able to provide an environment and the resources that will help our students reduce their stress and increase academic performance is well worth going the extra mile to make it happen.

My Project

Our ESL teacher does an outstanding job but is only here part-time and the students need a means of reinforcement and remediation when she is not present. Providing Rosetta Stone English will provide an opportunity for each individual to maintain a steady learning pace and match the content to their particular learning styles. The structure of the program also allows the student to record vocal assignments, which will provide the teacher with an opportunity to evaluate the success of each student and zero in on areas needing additional work. The program will be loaded on 10 computers, allowing students to come to the Library and work at their own pace.
