My kids love anything outside of the box and entertaining!
We laugh, learn, joke and play together on a daily basis in class. Some of my students come from low socioeconomic status homes, so I try to provide them with opportunities that they may not have at home. Our class is like a family, we work in small groups on projects and as a team to accomplish our skills and goals in class daily. Choice is huge in our class, I try to allow them to pick how and where they will complete tasks and include a variety of different choices to accommodate different learning styles. Kids have determination and grit when they can choose how to complete tasks, which in turn drives them to complete rigorous tasks in our classroom.
My Project
Every day is a new day and should be an adventure! In class we try to dig deep into our books by researching the story, setting, characters, information/places, music/art/sports/people, experiments and actually trying to put ourselves “into the book.” We do virtual field trips and are constantly researching in class to learn as much as we can about the skills and material we are learning.
The pandemic has put strain on so many kids, families and schools.
We work hard daily to accomplish goals and strive to be the best in everything we do. We are determined to learn new skills and build on the ones we already know.
Kids today still need to be kids, they must learn through innovative and creative ways. These items will allow them the chance to not only read, research and discuss skills in class for reading, science and writing but also to apply them in real life and hands-on experiences. Our kids need and deserve it! Work hard, play hard is our philosophy at school and in our class. Kids light up and glow when they do great things, I can hardly wait to see their faces as we could provide teachable moments and memories while learning valuable content!
