Escaping into Literature

My Project

My students are crazy about books! When we read novels, they are always begging to read one more chapter before we have to return to our seats. Literature allows my students to understand the background of diverse cultures. It also allows them to escape to their imaginations and a world of run. Reading on the carpet is our favorite part of the day. I use these books to cover reading standards by applying standards to the text and testing students on what they have read. Reading novels in the classroom teaches my students that they do not have to look at pictures in a book to enjoy it. They can form their own illustrations in their minds. A love for reading is something that my students and I can enjoy together. I am working to build novel study sets to provide multiple topics and choices for my eager readers.
