My students range from high ability to low achieving, but they all thrive on engagement. Some have lots of parental support at home and others are more of the care takers themselves. Most of them need help building confidence in their abilities at school. I am looking to promote their abilities and confidence through team work and critical thinking. I want them to develop the ability to understand that they can accomplish anything they put their minds to getting done.
Student engagement is key for success. A relatively new practice is using escape rooms to reinforce and solidify understanding. Students must solve puzzles to “escape”. These activities promote critical thinking and team work. While there are digital versions today, our students are already so inundated with technology, I would love to provide the experience of using actual locks and that hands-on concept. It would be different and unique for them, and would certainly provide engagement. Please help allow them this unique opportunity in learning, engagement, and confidence. Building this before they head to high school will impact their future!
