Help me give my students good books to read! The alphabet carpet will help them know where to sit while we read stories and let the kindergartners learn their alphabet!
Do you remember getting hooked on a series of books? Did this help to fuel your love of reading? Think of the anticipation and excitement you felt while reading that book, that book that got you hooked on all other books. My students share that excitement when they read a new book they find. However, they are unable to read the next book in the series most of the time or unable to even that book that will hook them.
Students at my school are inquisitive, compassionate, and creative.
They have the initiative to find a book that will spark their interest, once that book is able to be in our library. Our school library is an essential resource for my students. Many of my students do not have access to books at home and rely on our school library to check out the books they want to read! We are in a rural impoverished area and have struggling readers who can't find a book they can love to readers who are itching to get their hands on that book that will challenge their ideas.
My Project
The alphabet carpet will help the younger kids learn their alphabet while also letting them have a special place to call theirs during story time! All the kids will be able to use it for reference when searching for books on the shelves!
Books are, arguably, one of the greatest inventions to come out of the modern world.
These collections of boxed sets and individual books will foster the love of reading this generation possesses. Studies show reading for fun outside of school improves academic success. These books will improve the students academics as well as taking them all over through the stories contained in their pages.
