Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Every student in my classroom comes from very diverse backgrounds and each one of them bring in their own unique strength and challenges. They celebrate every little achievement and work hard towards the next. My students love working together in small group and helping each other when someone is struggling. To them, its a big deal to prove they can do the work. At times they doubt themselves, and it takes a lot of motivation and a positive environment to help them believe, "They can do it". At our school we teach our students to be respectful, responsible, and always ready to learn.
"Children must be taught how to think, not what to think", -Margaret Mead
We are a Title I school and more than half of the school receive free or reduce lunch. Many students receive weekend backpack food. These students balance personal matters and school at the same time. Despite their daily challenges, my students walk in ready to learn and eager to explore new ideas.
My Project
I have an amazing bunch of third graders who are always on the go and ready for the next lesson. My students are eager learners and love express themselves. A strategy that we are constantly using in the classroom is collaborative working with the goal to solve problems together.
The Breakout EDU kits will provide my students with a new and exciting way of working together and problem solving.
The escape rooms can be modified depending on the subject area and the skills being taught. Groups can be challenged in various scenarios, allowing students to provide their own personal skills within their groups to solve the problem. Not only do I love to see each one of my student input their individual ideas during teamwork, students love to feel needed and accomplished.
