I work in an inner city school, and most of my students are at least one year behind grade level. To make matters worse, most of my students don't come to school with the basic materials that they need to be prepared. Examples of the materials I am talking about are backpacks, pencils, folders and notebooks. As their teacher, I have a huge, and expensive, task at hand.
With every student that enters my classroom, I hold a great deal of responsibility.
Not only do I have to make sure that they receive the best quality education I am capable of giving them, but I also have to supply them with materials; if I don't they, won't have them - simple as that!
I teach 25 kindergartners, and most of them have not had preschool; they are starting off at a disadvantage. This makes it very difficult for me to come up with effective centers during their reading block that allows me to focus on the guided reading group in front of me. I think having these eReaders for a center would be a perfect way to introduce my students to a reading in an engaging and supportive way. I could teach my group with the comfort of knowing that these students would also be having a purposeful center; there would be no wasted instruction time
