My students need dry erase boards and slip covers in order for them to continually practice their Math and Reading skills again and again with one swipe to restart and ensure mastery of the skills.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are from low-income families that are of Hispanic and African-American descent. Most of the students speak two languages and struggle with the transitions between the languages. Some students can not afford basic school supplies, get a good night sleep, concentrate on their educational success due to home issues that some adults never have to think about. It is my job to provide a safe and effective environment for a successful academic future. I focus on each of my students' needs through small group and one on one work. It is my goal to keep students engaged and focused while in small groups. I have to be very creative with this due to our schools limited funding for extra materials. These materials would help my students stay focused and productive during their center time.
My Project
My students need the Dry Erase Boards and erasers so they can work in small groups during Math and Reading. They will practice mathematical problems and facts on the boards during our whole group and small group stations. My students love to participate in group work and these Dry Erase Boards will make it much easier for everyone to solve problems and share their work with their solutions. They can easily erase and move on to the next problem to be solved.
Dry Erase Boards and Slip Covers are essential for each student to show their work and quickly remove it, jumping on to the next problem to solve or sentence to be written.
My students will be able to easily practice text evidence, main idea with supporting details, vocabulary with context clues, or simple sequencing in a story with the Slip Covers placed over their story. We will be able to reuse many of our worksheets for even more practice to master the skills set for them.
My students love to read and solve math problems. I feel these simple tools of Dry Erase Boards and Slip Covers will make their learning that much more enjoyable and give them the confidence they need to succeed.
