Equity Through Essentials: Basic Supplies for ELL Success
Help me give my students basic supplies! We are an English Language Development Classroom for students who speak another language at home. Since we are specialist, we often don't get supplies for our classroom.

My Project
Our classroom is a hub for over 100 English Language Learners (ELLs) ranging from Kindergarten through 8th grade. These students come to us for targeted language services throughout the day, not as part of a traditional homeroom, but as learners with unique needs who deserve the same access to materials as their peers.
Because we are not a homeroom, our space often gets overlooked when it comes to classroom supply drives and donations.
Yet, we serve some of the most academically vulnerable students—many of whom are newcomers adjusting to a new language, school system, and culture. Our students come from diverse backgrounds and speak multiple languages, and we are a proud part of a Title 1 school community.
Unfortunately, securing basic supplies—pencils, paper, folders, markers, glue, dry-erase boards, and more—has been an ongoing challenge. These essentials are the foundation for our daily lessons, language games, vocabulary practice, and writing development. With so many students rotating through our room every day, supplies are used up quickly, and without consistent replenishment, it’s difficult to maintain the level of instruction our students deserve.
This project will help us stock our classroom with the basic supplies our students need to learn effectively. We’ll be able to provide each learner with the tools they need to participate in language-rich lessons, interactive activities, and literacy development. Your support ensures that language learners have equitable access to quality materials, just like their peers in general education classrooms.
Every student who walks into our room is working hard to learn a new language while mastering grade-level content. Having access to the most basic supplies not only supports their learning but sends a powerful message: You matter, and we believe in your success.
