My Project

My students are eager, imaginative, and full of potential. They are at the very beginning of their academic journeys, and their experiences now will shape their relationship with learning for years to come. This project goes beyond reading and it’s about equity. Too often, students who struggle with early literacy don’t have access to the specialized tools and instruction they need to catch up. Without intervention, the gap only grows. By providing these materials, I can deliver data-informed, differentiated instruction that supports all learners especially those most at risk.

Every child deserves to feel the joy of reading a book on their own.

This project ensures that every student has a chance to develop strong literacy skills regardless of their background, learning style, or access to resources outside of school. Research shows that when students receive targeted support in the early grades, their chances of long-term academic success improve dramatically.

To ensure all my students have a fair shot at becoming confident readers, I am seeking phonemic awareness and phonics tools (letter tiles, Elkonin boards, sound board cards); fluency practice tools (reading slides and highlighters); writing materials (colored paper, dry erase board, markers, pencils); reading intervention games and literacy centers for small-group instruction; and rewards (Treasure Box, stickers and prizes).

These resources will be used in targeted small group intervention, ensuring students get the support they need when they need it most. With these resources, I can better support struggling readers, challenge learners, and create a classroom culture where reading is joyful, accessible, and empowering for all.
