My Project
As the district science coach for grades 6 - 12 I am responsible for providing professional development opportunities for my fellow science teachers. This year I would like to expand upon our district goals related to equity in education by having a book club during our science PLC (Professional Learning Community) meetings.
The mission of the book club is for teachers to examine how language and culture matter for effective science teaching.
Through the readings, we will learn how to connect our content areas to all of our students’ identities, languages, and cultures.
By participating in this year-long professional development, teachers will learn how to modify their instructional methods to ensure ALL students have access to high quality science learning opportunities and will be able to succeed in science.
