My Students

We are excited to set up OUR SECOND outdoor library for our seven 5th grade classrooms and our future 5th graders. Our students love to read! They love new books and they love being able to supplement what they learn in class with nonfiction books!

My Project

We want to see our students' faces light up when they see themselves in a character. Every child deserves to have this connection with books.

We are trying to fill our NEW OUTDOOR Library with books that represent a variety of authors, races, cultures, and genres/subjects.

We also want to fill this library with nonfiction books that highlight different scientists/leaders/activists/athletes from different backgrounds, and we want to introduce our readers to new authors from a variety of backgrounds.

We want to have books that ALL of our students can see themselves in, books that are full of DIVERSE characters. Diversity in children's literature is important for children who identify with different communities because it helps children learn about themselves and feel like they have a valid place in the world.
