My Project

Students have diverse needs and experiences. As an educator, I aim not to assume a one-size-fits-all approach to education but one that taps into each student's experiences and prior knowledge to meet their various needs and make the teaching and learning experience meaningful and engaging for all learners. My goal is to utilize equitable learning tools such as the LCD projector, the doc camera, and headphones to ensure that all students in my classroom, regardless of their abilities, background, language, or family socioeconomic status, have what they need to bridge the gap and be successful. For example, I have a group of multilingual learners in my classroom who are simultaneously learning English and getting exposure to grade-level content and skills. They add so much value to our learning community, and I aim to provide equitable opportunities for these students to engage meaningfully in the learning process while learning a new language. Additionally, within my inclusion classroom, I have students with varying types of learning disabilities and conditions who work hard each day. These tools, the projector, doc camera, and headphones, will help bridge the gap, provide greater access to the curriculum, and boost outcomes for these students. I have very high expectations of my students, and I must ensure that I provide high support for them as they engage in productive struggle and help them thrive academically and socially within the learning environment that I have created.
