Equipping the Next Generation of Strong Female Athletes

My Project
My students are middle school girls with big dreams and even bigger determination. Our volleyball team is made up of young women of color at a Title I school, and they show up to every practice ready to work hard, push themselves, and grow as athletes and teammates. Last year was our school’s first-ever girls volleyball season, and while the girls gave it their all, we didn’t have enough of the basic equipment needed to run strong, consistent practices. We often had to share worn-down volleyballs or rotate drills because there weren’t enough for everyone. Despite those challenges, my team played with heart and they’re eager to come back even stronger this year.
That’s why I’m asking for 22 official game volleyballs—with this equipment, my players will be able to practice with the same quality gear as the teams they compete against.
It will help them build their confidence, sharpen their skills, and feel proud of the hard work they put in, knowing they have the tools they need to succeed.
