This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our classroom is full of bright, resilient, and hardworking students who show up each day ready to learn, despite the many challenges they face outside of school. Many of our students are newcomers to the country, learning English while also adjusting to a new environment and culture. What I love most about my students is their determination, kindness, and the way they support each other as a community. They are curious learners who thrive when they are given the right tools and environment to focus, stay organized, and feel cared for.
We are seeking funding for several essential resources that will transform our learning space and directly support our students’ academic success and well-being.
These include a charging cart for laptops so students can always access digital learning tools without worrying about dead batteries. We are also reusable water bottles to help them stay hydrated and focused throughout the day and jacket racks so they can neatly store their coats and keep our learning space tidy. Lastly, we need a bookshelf to give our classroom library a proper home and encourage independent reading. Each of these items meets a basic need that, when fulfilled, helps remove barriers to learning.
These resources may seem simple, but their impact is powerful. A charged laptop means uninterrupted learning. A water bottle means fewer distractions from thirst or hallway trips. A jacket rack means students can feel more comfortable and organized. A bookshelf means our students can access stories that inspire them. With your support, we can create a classroom where students not only learn, but feel respected, cared for, and empowered every single day.
