This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are curious, ambitious, and eager to learn, but they face real challenges when it comes to hands-on science education. Our school has limited resources for laboratory experiments, which makes it difficult for students to fully engage in chemistry the way it’s meant to be learned through exploration and experimentation.

Science is meant to be explored, not just memorized.

But without proper safety gear and lab tools, my students are limited in what they can do. This project will provide laboratory aprons, safety glasses, nitrile gloves, and fire blankets to ensure they can conduct experiments safely and confidently. Additionally, the scientific calculators, wash bottles, weighing dishes, and filter paper will allow them to perform critical experiments in stoichiometry, energy transfer, and real-world chemical reactions.

Many of my students dream of careers in science, engineering, and healthcare, and this experience will help them build the foundational skills required for success. With these resources, they’ll be able to actively participate in experiments that reinforce their learning and prepare them for future academic and career opportunities.
