Equipping Future Musicians for Success

Help me give my students Everest shoulder rests and Snark tuners help students hold violins correctly and stay in tune. These tools build proper technique, comfort, and confidence—essential for success in our beginning orchestra program.

My Project

I teach elementary school music in a vibrant, diverse community. Our orchestra and concert band programs give students a rare opportunity to learn real instruments and for many students it is their first time. For many of my students, this is their only chance to study music in a structured, supportive environment. They come to class excited, curious, and ready to make music together.

Right now, we are making do with improvised solutions.

Instead of proper shoulder rests, students are using store bought sponges and rubber bands to try to hold their violins comfortably. While this helps in the short term, it’s far from ideal. Students struggle with posture, discomfort, and distractions that make it harder to focus and progress.

We also face challenges with tuning and equipment maintenance. Many students can't tune their instruments independently, and loose music stands make rehearsals difficult. These issues can affect student confidence and limit their musical growth.

This project will support over 100 young musicians by providing the essential tools they need to succeed. The Everest shoulder rests will help students hold their violins properly, reducing strain and improving technique. The Snark rechargeable tuners will help them learn how to tune their instruments accurately and develop their ear. The Korg chromatic tuner will support ensemble tuning, and the Manhasset stand wrenches will allow us to keep our stands safe and functional.

These may seem like small upgrades, but they make a big difference. When students are physically comfortable, in tune, and surrounded by working equipment, they can focus on what really matters, making music together. Your support will directly impact our program and help build confidence, discipline, and creativity in more than 100 young musicians. Thank you for helping our music program grow stronger!
