This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The softball girls are bright, fun, and hardworking students looking for opportunities to be successful. These girls are here every day and push to succeed. They are ready to work and don't complain about what we ask them to do.

Our team is the center of their world, the only stability they know, and the only place where they are held accountable.

The athletes live in areas of concentrated poverty. Many are raised by someone other than a parent. For some, the only meals they have on a consistent basis are at school. Nearly all of them are learning what a team is and how to be on a team.

My Project

The equipment in this project will assist with teaching the players the basics needed to play the game. The girls will have the opportunity to learn and become successful on the softball field. The pitching machine and batting cage will teach the girls the fundamentals of hitting the ball. Whereas the weighted and training balls will strengthen the athletes.

The equipment can be the foundation for the athletes to thrive on the field and in academics.

Students that succeed on the field have a high chance to succeed in the classroom. Sports increase students self- esteem and help them grow as a person.
