Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am requesting tools to help with inspiring students' interest in learning our 5th grade science content. These tools will help students to more deeply engage with the content than they would with only books or websites. I know that the science lessons I remember best from when I was an elementary student were those we got to use hands-on tools to see phenomena and test ideas, so I hope that I can provide learning experiences that will stick with my students long into their futures.
The microscopes and cell slides will be used when we compare animal and plant cells, and can additionally be used to foster inquiring minds to explore the microscopic world around them.
The circuit sets will fit perfectly with our unit on electricity by giving students an easy way to develop their understanding of what a circuit needs to work and what they can be used to do. With electricity we will also be exploring magnetism. The magnet activity sets will give students the opportunity to experience the way the magnets interact and how their interactions can be affected with electricity.
